Abstract:
In this first session of the new academic year, we will be discussing two recent papers by John F. Donoghue (https://inspirehep.net/record/1486275 and https://inspirehep.net/record/1486276), which investigate the possibility that the spin connection is an independent field with a negative beta function. Thus, it could happen that, starting from high energies, the connection gets confined at the Planck scale so that the low energy effective field theory could be the Einstein-Hilbert action. (The idea is quite similar to what happens in QCD)
The discussion will be leaded by Mario Herrero-Valea.
