Luis Ibáñez receives the Miguel Catalán award 2016 for his scientific career in theoretical physics

Luis Ibáñez, IFT-UAM/CSIC member and professor at the Department of Theoretical Physics of UAM has been awarded by the Comunidad de Madrid, with the Miguel Catalán award 2016 for his scientific career in theoretical physics. 

Luis Ibáñez is Principal Investigator of the IFT Severo Ochoa Excellence Center grant, and Deputy Director of the IFT. He is a world-leader in the fields of Particle Physics beyond the Stardard Model, Supersymmetry, and the application of String Theory to Particle Physics. He is co-author of the advanced textbook  "String theory and Particle Physics: an introduction to string phenomenology", published in Cambridge Univ. Press 2012. He has received numerous honours, including the Prize Juan Carlos I of Scientific Research (1986) and the Iberdrola Prize in Science and Technology 1997, and has been member of the external advisory committee of the TH Group at CERN. Presently he is member of the High Energy Particle Physics Board of the European Physical Society and Editor of the prestigious Journal of High Energy Physics. In 2013 he obtained an Advanced Grant from the European Research Council.
