The Institute for Theoretical Physics UAM-CSIC, Severo Ochoa Center of Excellence, and the Autónoma University of Madrid open three fellowships for exceptional candidates to carry out a PhD thesis at the IFT.
Within its International PhD Programme, "la Caixa" Foundation awards several PhD scholarships to research centres distinguished with the Severo Ochoa Centre of Excellence award. The 2015 call envisages providing full support to three such scholarships at the IFT.
Candidates are expected to carry out a PhD in one of the strategic research lines of the IFT, which include particle phenomenology, astroparticle physics, nuclear theory, string theory, gravitation and cosmology, lattice and quantum field theory, and quantum information theory. They should have an excellent academic track record, and are expected to hold an academic degree that grants access to a PhD program by September/October 2015.
Successful candidates will be hired as “la Caixa” - Severo Ochoa IFT Fellows, for a period of four years starting September or October 2015. The tasks associated to the fellowship will be research oriented towards obtaining the PhD degree, and includes research, participation in the IFT academic activities, and can include teaching and lecturing. The gross salary will progressively increase from 18.547 € the first year, to 22.559 € the fourth year. An additional budget of 1.500 € per year during the first two years, and 1.700 € per year during the last two years, will be available to cover PhD tuition fees, participation in international conferences, etc. The IFT will also provide funds for visits to other research centers and participation in international events.
