As is with every other Thursday, there’s a new #IFTResponde video on the IFT’s Youtube channel.
Are we looking at the dawn of new physics? In this video, Pedro de la Torre, postdoc investigator from the IFT, talks about new findings that could revolutionize particle astrophysics: the possible detection of antinucleus from AMS-02 at the International Space Station.
Known mechanisms cannot explain this new signal, and that means the more “exotic” theories —the likes of antimatter, antistars or a dark particle sector— are back on the table. Can this anomaly give us clues about the origin of the antimatter-matter asymmetry? Are we close to discovering phenomena that challenge our current understanding of the universe?
