What are D-branes in STRING THEORY and how do they bring us closer to the Standard Model

In this video, Ignacio Ruiz, predoctoral investigator from the IFT, clearly explains what D-branes are in the context of String Theory. D-branes let us understand the relation between open and close strings and force mediators. We will also see how, considering different D-brane combinations and configurations, we can reproduce very similar interactions to those of the Standard Model.
