On March 3rd, the Instituto de Física Teórica (IFT UAM-CSIC) hosted the II Workshop on Sound Art “Rebecca Collins”, dedicated to the memory of sound artist and researcher Rebecca Louise Collins (1982–2024), whose work explored listening as both an artistic practice and a research methodology.
Following the first edition held in November 2024, this second workshop further consolidated a space for interdisciplinary dialogue between art, science, and technology. Throughout the event, researchers, artists, and participants engaged in discussions on the role of sound in knowledge production, addressing topics such as perception, the materiality of sound, and experimental listening practices.
The programme combined theoretical contributions with practice-oriented sessions, fostering an environment for exchange and experimentation. This initiative reflects the IFT’s commitment to innovative outreach formats and to promoting interactions between theoretical physics and other domains, particularly those related to sensory experience and artistic creativity.
