Researcher at the Institute for Theoretical Physics (IFT, UAM-CSIC) and Professor of Theoretical Physics at the Autonomous University of Madrid, Juan García-Bellido Capdevila has been honored with the 2025 National Research Award in the category “Blas Cabrera, in Physical Sciences of Materials and the Earth”, granted by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities (MICIU).
This recognition highlights Juan García-Bellido’s distinguished scientific career, in particular his contributions to the field of theoretical cosmology, the paradigm of cosmic inflation, and the physics of the early universe, linking theoretical ideas with experimental and astrophysical observations.
The award was publicly announced on Friday, September 26, in an official ceremony presided over by Minister Diana Morant, who emphasized the importance of these national awards as a tool to recognize scientific excellence in Spain.
Throughout his career at the IFT, Professor García-Bellido has led innovative research that has helped strengthen the institute’s visibility and impact in the field of theoretical cosmology, fostering collaborations with international groups, promoting the training of young researchers, and actively participating in knowledge transfer initiatives.
