On 11 February, in the context of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, the Instituto de Física Teórica (IFT UAM-CSIC) hosted the second session of its Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) training programme, titled “Beyond Law: Invisible Barriers to Women’s Access to Public Life.”

The talk was delivered by Soledad Escobar Villegas, PhD in Political Science and García Pelayo Research Fellow at the Centro de Estudios Políticos y Constitucionales (Ministry of the Presidency, Spain). The session provided a rigorous and thought-provoking examination of the persistent gaps in access to representative and decision-making positions faced by women and by ethnic or gender minorities, even within legal frameworks formally committed to equality.

The event was organised by the IFT Equality Committee as part of its ongoing efforts to promote equity, diversity, and inclusion within the scientific community.
