Seminar: ‘Classical Krylov probes and chaotic semiclassical strings’

June 1 | 15:00 - 16:00

Title: ‘Classical Krylov probes and chaotic semiclassical strings’

Speaker: Saskia Demulder (CUNEF)

Venue&Time: Red Room / 15:00

Abstract: Quantum chaos is a central theme in string theory, but classical chaos is also a generic feature of semiclassical string dynamics. Motivated by the need to explore the broad landscape of non-integrable string dynamics, I will introduce a classical version of Krylov complexity and related diagnostics using the Koopman-von Neumann formulation of classical mechanics. I will then explain how this framework can be applied to integrability-breaking deformations of otherwise integrable semiclassical string solutions. In particular, I will show how such deformations induce characteristic redistributions of spectral weight, leading to observable-dependent delocalisation and spreading in Koopman-Krylov space. This talk is based on [2602.23421] and ongoing work, both in collaboration with Rathindra N. Das.
