{"id":53,"date":"2017-07-31T08:25:24","date_gmt":"2017-07-31T08:25:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ift.uam-csic.es\/severo\/?page_id=53"},"modified":"2022-05-11T11:58:04","modified_gmt":"2022-05-11T11:58:04","slug":"introduction","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.ift.uam-csic.es\/severoochoa\/en\/introduction\/","title":{"rendered":"Introduction"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>Welcome to the web site of the Severo Ochoa Program, SO (IFT), of the Institute for Theoretical Physics &#8211; Instituto de F\u00edsica Te\u00f3rica\u00a0 (IFT) UAM-CSIC.<\/h4>\n<p>SO (IFT) is based on the grant awarded by the Spanish Secretary of State for Research, Development and Innovation, recognizing the IFT as the center of excellence for research in theoretical physics, after detailed evaluation by an international panel of world-leader researchers in different areas.<\/p>\n<p>The initial recognition for the period 2013-2017 has been extended twice, first to the period 2017-2021 and to the period 2022-2025. The present pages gather the information of Severo Ochoa activities in 2022-25, for information about the 2017-21 Severo Ochoa, see <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ift.uam-csic.es\/severoochoa2017-21\">link<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The 2022-25 SO (IFT) is centered on four main research lines:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <span id=\"page13R_mcid37\" class=\"markedContent\"><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Particle Physics in the Standard Model and beyond (BSM)<\/span><\/span>.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <span id=\"page13R_mcid38\" class=\"markedContent\"><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Origin and composition of the Universe. Astroparticles and Cosmology <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">(Astro\/Cosmo<\/span><span class=\"markedContent\"><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">)<\/span><\/span><\/span>.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <span id=\"page13R_mcid39\" class=\"markedContent\"><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Quantum matter and<\/span><span class=\"markedContent\"> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">fi<\/span><\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">elds (Quantum)<\/span><\/span>.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 <span id=\"page13R_mcid40\" class=\"markedContent\"><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Strings and Quantum Gravity (Gravity\/Strings)<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>The main actions fostered by the SO(IFT) are<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Profit of its unique facilities in its modern building in the UAM campus, in order to continue it successful\u00a0 high-level visitor program, and to organize numerous international workshops, extended programs and advanced schools.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Reinforce the IFT policy of human resources to maintain an even increase the attractiveness and international competitiveness of our postdoc and predoc offer.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Reinforce our connections with experimental groups at LHC as well as with Astroparticle and Cosmology groups.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Improve our high performance computing facilities, to the level required by the new scientific challenges.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_20\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-20\" style=\"width: 177px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ift.uam-csic.es\/severoochoa2013-17\/en\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-20 size-full\" title=\"SO 2013-17\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ift.uam-csic.es\/severoochoa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/severoOchoa.png\" alt=\"SO 2013-17\" width=\"177\" height=\"100\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-20\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ift.uam-csic.es\/severoochoa2013-17\/en\">SO 2013-17<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Welcome to the web site of the Severo Ochoa Program, SO (IFT), of the Institute for Theoretical Physics &#8211;
