Yesterday, Monday, 13 July, the IFT received the Severo Ochoa Centre of Excellence accreditation, awarded by the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, during a ceremony presided over by Minister Diana Morant in Valencia.
The Severo Ochoa accreditation (SO(IFT)) is awarded by the Ministry through the Spanish State Research Agency (AEI) in recognition of the IFT’s excellence in research, training, and outreach in theoretical physics. The distinction is granted following a rigorous evaluation by an international panel of leading experts across different areas of the field. The IFT is among the very few research centres in Spain to have received this prestigious accreditation for a fourth consecutive term. First awarded for the 2013–2017 period, it was subsequently renewed for 2017–2021 and 2022–2026, and has now been extended for 2026–2031.
