Severo Ochoa Program

The Spanish Secretary of State for Research, Development and Innovation recognizes with this program world-class centres in all areas of research. An international Committee, integrated by world-leader researchers, coming from different countries and different research areas, participates in the selection process. The selected centres receive a funding of one million euro per year along a four-year period. Currently, there are 18 Severo Ochoa research centers of excellence in Spain.

SO (IFT)

The Instituto de Física Teórica (IFT) UAM-CSIC was awarded the Severo Ochoa Distinction in its 2012 edition. The funding of the Severo Ochoa Program of the IFT, SO (IFT), started in July 1, 2013, and allows the institute to

• Take profit of its unique facilities in its new building in the UAM campus, becoming a center for workshop organization at the international level. The IFT also organizes a regular program of high-level visitors. 
• Reinforce the IFT policy of human resources increasing the attractiveness and international competitiveness of our postdoc and predoc offer (both in quality and quantity).
• Reinforce our connections with experimental groups at LHC as well as with Astroparticle and Cosmology groups.
• Improve our high performance computing facilities, to the level required by the new scientific challenges.
