Abstract: 

The dissertation is focused on the Kaluza-Klein (KK) spectroscopy of AdS4 solutions in maximal supergravity.

By exploiting the universal features of the KK spin-2 perturbations, we conduct a spin-2 spectroscopy analysis on the holographic dual of the cubically deformed Aharony-Bergman-Jafferis-Maldacena (ABJM) conformal field theory (CFT). This allows us to deduce the presence of space invaders in the spectrum and the absence of an isometric embedding in flat space for the internal manifold. 

We then switch gears and turn to present new KK spectroscopy techniques, adapted to fields of any spin, within the framework of Exceptional Field Theory (ExFT). We derive explicitely the ExFT mass matrices for spin-1/2 and spin-3/2 modes, and apply such techniques to a number of gauged-supergravity vacua that uplift on topological spheres to D = 11, massive type IIA and type IIB supergravities. In particular, we first address N = 1 and N = 0 solutions uplifting to D = 11 and massive type IIA, for which we obtain the complete KK spectra, establishing general patterns for the latter. We then investigate families of solutions uplifting to type IIB supergravity S-folds: these families are the holographic duals of CFT’s confomal manifolds (CM) at large N. Also in this case, group theory and ExFT spectroscopy allow us to construct the complete KK spectrum of an N = 2 family of AdS4 solutions, thereby determining the global topology of its dual N = 2 CM (at leading order in N). Finally, a similar study is performed on three other selected N = 1 S-fold families.
