Abstract:

I wanted to give a rough understanding of what is being done in the context of (quantum) JT gravity and how it connects to older results.

To do this I need to talk about some background stuff, so we decided to reserve more than one holoclub. The topics should be roughly the following (in that order):

- Brief overview of MM and 2d gravity, some fundamentals of MMs and the concept of topological recursion.

- The PI for JT gravity on hyperbolic spacetimes, the integration measure and the building blocks for higher genus surfaces.

- The dual interpretation of these observables and the relevance for the information paradox.

I give a small set of references just in case: for Matrix Models https://arxiv.org/pdf/1510.04430.pdf gives a complete review of the methods, for JT gravity https://arxiv.org/abs/1703.04612 for the fluctuation PI, https://arxiv.org/abs/1903.11115 for the more complete computations and (hopefully) https://arxiv.org/abs/1911.11977 for applications. I think a link with the older literature is given by https://arxiv.org/pdf/1911.01659.pdf.
