The film 'Más allá de las estrellas', featuring the IFT, premieres on Disney+

After its initial release in May 2021, the feature-length documentary Más allá de las estrellas. Fotografiando a un agujero negro has just premiered on Disney+, joining other platforms such as Netflix, Filmin, and FlixOlé.

With contributions from several researchers at the Institute for Theoretical Physics (IFT), the documentary provides a detailed portrayal of the Spanish scientific community, including the team involved in capturing the first-ever photograph of a black hole.

Más allá de las estrellas. Fotografiando a un agujero negro (Beyond the Stars: Photographing a Black Hole) is written and directed by Gonzalo Gurrea and produced by María José Más Jiménez for GGY Proyectos Audiovisuales, in collaboration with the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), the Institute of Theoretical Physics (IFT UAM-CSIC), the Institute of Astrophysics of Andalusia (IAA), the Institut de Radioastronomie Millimétrique (IRAM 30m Telescope), the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM), and the Ramón Areces Foundation.

At the IFT, we are thrilled that the documentary can now reach an even broader audience thanks to its premiere on Disney+.

Synopsis:

On April 10, 2019, a milestone in scientific history was achieved: the first image of a black hole. This film engages in a conversation with some of Spain's most prominent physicists, including several who contributed to this achievement, delving into their personal motivations to address the great questions that humanity continues to ask.
