Abstract:

Understanding the formation and evolution of early-type, spheroid-dominated galaxies is still an open question within the context of the hierarchical clustering scenario, particularly in low-density environments. In this talk I will show some of the results of a wide numerical study of the main structural, dynamical, and stellar population properties and assembly histories of field spheroid-dominated galaxies formed in a Λ-cold dark matter scenario. Using different numerical experiments we explore the formation process of spheroidal dominated galaxies. We compare our results with the latest observational findings.
