Abstract:

A fermion representation with exact chiral symmetry can be obtained on a 5-dimensional lattice with a single boundary, circumventing the Nielsen-Ninomiya theorem. I discuss this as well as a proposal for gauging the theory, and objections that have been raised, and possible implications for chiral gauge theories in the continuum.
