Abstract:

In this talk I shall present results from several ongoing projects which involve study of generic features of hermal correlators in large space-like momenta.  First I shall discuss Wightman functions in a relativistic quantum field theory in  this limit and show that this correlator must die off at least as fast as Exp[R \beta] where R is the radius of the smallest sphere that contains the polygon formed by the momenta and \beta, the inverse temperature. I shall give examples both in the weakly coupled field theories and in holographic theories and argue that these exponentially decaying modes are essential features of thermalisation. If time permits, I shall discuss quench in a coupled system of vector models resulting in an ``approximate'' thermal state.
