Abstract:

Microstate geometries and the CTCs problem

Microstate geometries are smooth horizonless solutions of supergravity theories, which are claimed to represent the classical description of the microstates of a black hole. So far, no systematic procedure to construct these type of solutions was known. I will talk about the results of a recent paper (arXiv:1709.03985) in which we argue that the problem of constructing explicit solutions can be boiled down to the evaluation of an algebraic constraint, allowing us to design a systematic procedure to generate these solutions.

A tmQCD mixed-action approach to flavour physics.

Lattice is a general non-perturbative tool, which allows to address computations of physical quantities in a given gauge theory. A precise determination of SM observables in the heavy quark sector is crucial to compare the theoretical prediction and experimental results. I will present lattice computations as a general non-perturbative tool and our mixed-action setup for the determination of physical quantities in the heavy sector.
