Preheating Axions in String Cosmology
"Parametric resonance is a common feature in many inflationary scenarios, arising as a non-perturbative effect driven by the coupling of the inflation with other fields oscillating at the bottom of the potential. This effect can lead to the exponential production of particles, with significant consequences for the post-inflationary evolution of the universe. I will explore parametric resonance in the context of string inflation, focusing on a modulus coupled to an axion through a potential driven by type iib string theory on Calabi-Yau orientifolds. I will demonstrate how the dynamics of a string-theoretic construction yield outcomes that deviate from conventional effective field theory predictions. By analyzing specific models, I will explore how axion production via parametric resonance imposes novel constraints on model building."
