Redefining the Axion Window

New, relatively small experiments around the globe have started the axion hunt. After reviewing the physics case for the axion and the status of experimental searches, I will discuss UV completions of the QCD axion whose properties can sizably deviate from those of standard DFSZ/KSVZ benchmark models.
