Abstract:
Kleinschmidt and Nicolai (https://arxiv.org/abs/2202.12676) provide an example of DeWitt’s old mechanism for
the treatment of singularities in quantum gravity. This mechanism is based on the vanishing at the singularity of
the wavefunction of the Wheeler-DeWitt operator associated with the bosonic part of the Hamiltonian of D=11
supergravity, which the authors identify with the E10 Casimir at low levels. In this holoclub, I will review the
principal ingredients and discuss main results of this work.
