Understanding the emergence of spacetime from quantum mechanics is a theoretical question of fundamental importance. Implicit in the AdS/CFT correspondence, and more generally in the holographic principle, is the promise that this question has a definite answer within the dual quantum field theory that lives at the boundary. In this setting, scattering amplitudes and holographic correlators are a preferred set of observables that embody the holographic principle.
Harnessing substantial progress over the last several years in nonperturbative quantum and conformal field theory I will present results for four-point correlation functions with single and multi particle operators insertions, and discuss their gravitational interpretation in the context of microstate geometries. Explicit results for quantum gravity in IIB string theory on AdS5xS5 are obtained using the canonical duality with N= 4 super-Yang Mills theory
