Abstract:

The direct detection of light dark matter particles that are gravitationally bound to the galaxy represent an experimental challenge as their kinetic energy can fall below the energy scale for generating a visible signal, typically at the order of eV. In this talk I will review the idea that there is an irreducible contribution to the flux that got accelerated in the solar interior to keV energies, opening up the prospects of probing MeV-scale DM masses with the largest and cleanest direct detection constraints such as XENON1T.
