Abstract:

Fractons are exotic excitations emerging in lattice models which have raised a remarkable interest in both high energy physics and condensed matter. This seminar will address  a general class of interacting quantum field theories with fractonic behavior. Concretely, here we use non-perturbative variational techniques in QFT to investigate how and to what extent it can be considered that the exotic dipole symmetries originating the fractonic behaviour  can be considered an emergent phenomenon at low energies.
