Abstract:

The Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope was launched by NASA from the Kennedy Space Center on June 11, 2008. The observatory checkout phase completed on August 11, 2008, and Fermi is now about to finish its second year of nominal science operations. On August 25, 2009, data and analysis software were released for the public. Members of the scientific community interested in gamma ray astronomy have access to an enormous catalog of photons coming from all the sky, increasing at a rate of around 1000 events every three hours. In this school we will provide an overview of how these data can be downloaded, processed and analyzed using the public resources provided by the Fermi Collaboration.
