Abstract:

The universe is apparently filled with a new form of matter, called dark matter. The nature of dark matter remains a mystery but much hope is put in  weakly interacting massive particles or WIMPs. In this talk, after a brief discussion of possible dark matter contenders, I will focus on some simple WIMP candidates (mostly scalar particles) and their possible experimental and observational signatures (in particular in gamma-rays).
