Abstract:

We present some of the results obtained during my thesis.

We start with the problem of determining the influence of 't Hooft anomalies on the effective action for thermal compatifications.

We explain how the gravitational anomaly may contribute in a nontrivial way and comment on (global) issues.

Then we move to examine the role of torsion in this classification in the (different) context of Lifshitz theories. We comment about universality in the warped z -> 0 limit.
