Faculty positions - ATRAE program

The Institute for Theoretical Physics (IFT UAM-CSIC) in Madrid expects to have one or more openings under the Programa ATRAE of the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities.

These positions offer an initial period of 3 to 4 years funded by the ATRAE program through a Distinguished Researcher contract, with a gross annual salary of 80,000 -110,000 EUR depending on seniority.

Upon completion of this period, the IFT is committed to creating and filling a permanent faculty position for the selected candidate.

The total funding package can reach up to 1,000,000 EUR, covering salary, research costs, and optional infrastructure improvements. For researchers who have spent at least 5 years in US research institutions since January 1st, 2019, the funding can increase up to 1,200,000 EUR.

Research areas of interest include particle phenomenology, astroparticle physics, nuclear theory, string theory, gravitation and cosmology, lattice and quantum field theory, and quantum information theory.

Eligibility requirements:

  • PhD awarded before January 1, 2018.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in non-Spanish research institutions between January 1, 2019 and the call deadline.
  • Not holding a permanent academic or research position in Spanish public institutions at the time of application.
