Juan García-Bellido, named Academician of the Royal Academy of Sciences
  •  IFT researcher Juan García-Bellido obtained the acknowledgement for his contributions and theoretical work in cosmology and astrophysics.

The Royal Academy of Exact, Physical and Natural Sciences of Spain, from its founding Statutes approved by the Royal Order of February 25, 1847 takes care of promoting the study and research of Mathematical, Physical, Chemical, Geological and Biological, and their applications, as well as to spread their knowledge. Its main functions include advising the Government on matters within its competence, particularly in those of scientific policy that may have transcendence in the scientific and technological development of the country.

Additionally, the Academy assumes other tasks, such as organizing meetings and seminars on the aforementioned specialties, publishing its journal and scientific reports, as well as other types of reports or studies, setting and defining scientific and technical terminology, ensuring the ownership of the language, award prizes, etc.
