New IFT video: Gravitational Wave Background, the HUM of the Universe

Last June, the North American Nanohertz Gravitational Wave Observatory (NANOGrav) announced evidence of very low-frequency gravitational waves, with periods ranging from years to decades.

New IFT video: How to capture the shadow of a black hole

In 2019, the publication of the first photograph of a black hole, the one at the center of the Messier 87 galaxy, ASTONISHED the scientific community and the public opinion. The method used to capture these cosmic objects involves obtaining an image not of the black hole itself but of its SHADOW.

An Enormous Gravity ‘Hum’ Moves Through the Universe

The discovery, recently announced by the team known as the North American Nanohertz Observatory for Gravitational Waves, or NANOGrav, shows that extra-large ripples in space-time are constantly squashing and changing the shape of space.
