Postdoctoral position to work on dark matter searches at Madrid IFT

The Astroparticle group at the Institute for Theoretical Physics, IFT UAM-CSIC (Madrid, Spain) invites applications for a post-doctoral position. The selected candidate will join the group of Prof. David G. Cerdeño to work on aspects related to the direct detection of light dark matter, coherent neutrino scattering, and machine learning tools, applied to dark matter searches within the SuperCDMS collaboration.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in physics and demonstrated research abilities in areas pertinent to the research activities. Our research group sits at the frontier of theory and experiment, and therefore we welcome applications from candidates with both theoretical or experimental background.

The IFT (https://www.ift.uam-csic.es/en) offers a vibrant atmosphere, with a wide range of experts in particle and astroparticle physics and cosmology. In addition, the Theoretical Physics Department at Madrid Autonoma University complements this with expertise in astrophysics, and experimental particle and neutrino physics. Diversity is an integral part of the IFT. We seek to promote and maintain an inclusive and supportive environment for work and study that assists all members of our community to reach their full potential. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or any other characteristic protected by law.

Salary and duration:

28800 Eur/year (gross salary)

The duration of the contract is two years and includes public health insurance.

Application procedure:
Applications should include a CV, a statement of research interests and a publication list. Two or three letters of reference should also be provided.
Apply online at https://remo.ift.uam-csic.es/postdoc/, indicating SuperCDMS as a “Field of Interest”.

Closing date:
While we anticipate successful candidates will join the group in fall 2020, the actual start date may be negotiable. Applications should arrive by September 15, 2020. Later applications will be considered until the position is filled.
