I will give a pedagogical introduction to the status of Beyond the Standard Model. In the context of colliders, I will discuss in detail the use of Effective Field Theories in characterising data, and how this framework allows us to systematically improve predictions and connect to models of new physics at multi-TeV scales. I will also explain how complementarity among different sources of data (Earth-based, cosmological and astrophysical) may be key to unveil new theories. I will finish with a few thoughts on future directions in this area.
