Ramón y Cajal researcher in the Department of Theoretical Physics at the Faculty of Sciences of the Autonomous University of Madrid, Ana Cueto, has been awarded one of the prestigious ERC Starting Grants granted by the European Research Council. Her project, Plusphoton, will explore new strategies for studying the Higgs boson through the analysis of data from the ATLAS experiment at the CERN Large Hadron Collider.

From the IFT, we would like to congratulate our colleague from the Faculty of Sciences on this important recognition and wish her great success in developing Plusphoton, a project that will make a decisive contribution to advancing knowledge in particle physics.

With these grants, the ERC supports researchers in the early stages of their careers so that they can launch their own projects, consolidate teams, and open new lines of research. In this call, 478 researchers of 51 nationalities were selected, of which 42% are women. Among them is IFT researcher Irene Valenzuela, who received an ERC in 2022.
