Carmen García, researcher at IFIC, receives the 2024 National Research Award in the category of Physical Sciences

Professor García has been awarded this prize for the impact of her scientific career, recognized both nationally and internationally, and for the excellence of her research in particle physics, focused on the study of the fundamental components of matter and their interactions.

Her contributions to the search for long-lived particles, the development of track detectors, and her participation in the ATLAS experiment, which was key to the discovery of the Higgs Boson, stand out.
