100 years after Einstein's lecture at Residencia de Estudiantes
  • Continuing the Residencia de Estudiantes tradition, past and present will gather in the Colina de los Chopos once again.

A lecture by Albert Einstein was given at Residencia de Estudiantes on March 9, 1923. Einstein's presentation, entitled "Summary of the theories of relativity," was presented by Jose Ortega y Gasset, who also translated from the German.

As part of its centenary celebration, Residencia de Estudiantes will host a conference in honor of Einstein's historic visit next Tuesday, March 14.

José Manuel Sánchez Ron, Emeritus Professor of Science History at the Autonomous University of Madrid and the Royal Spanish Academy, will examine what Einstein did during the ten days he spent in Madrid.

Juan García-Bellido –a member of the International Forum for Physics and the Royal Academy of Exact, Physical, and Natural Sciences– will prepare a new, updated "summary" of the theories of relativity, specifically the General Theory, for the Autonomous University of Madrid.

Entry is free until all seats are filled.

The conferences will be held in Spanish.
