Dr. Anibal Medina is visiting us Dr. Anibal Medina from Instituto de Fisica La Plata is visiting the IFT for the period September 24th to 28th, 2018. His research interests lie on physics beyond the Standard Model of particle physics such as in Supersymmetry, Extra Dimensions, Composite models, dark matter among others. He is a phenomenologist and as such He has worked in model building as well studying constraints and predictions of several of these frameworks which can be probed at current colliders like the LHC, as well as in astrophysical and cosmological situations. In fact, this provides a very interesting link between particle physics, cosmology and astrophysics.
Dr. Aitor Landete is visiting us Dr. Aitor Landete from UW-Madison is visiting the IFT for the period September 24th to 28th, 2018. His research interests are: Cosmology, String Phenomenology.
Dr. Guido Martinelli is visiting us Dr. Guido Martinelli from Università di Roma La Sapienza is visiting the IFT for the period September 17th to 20th, 2018. His office number is 316. He is mostly known for his works on elementary particles and phenomenology, including strong and weak interactions, flavour physics, perturbative methods as well as lattice simulations and statistical mechanics.
Dr. Krissia Zawadzki is visiting us Dr. Krissia Zawadzki from Instituto de Fisica de Sao Carlos IFSC-USP is visiting the IFT for the period October 15th to December 14th, 2018. Her office number is 115. Her research interests are: strongly correlated systems, numerical methods for solving model Hamiltonians based on the renormalization-group techniques (NRG, DMRG, tensor networks), foundations of density-functional theory (DFT) and quantum thermodynamics. Topics of my current research include transport properties of single-electron transistors and the Kondo effect, the bridge between DFT and quantum information theory, statistics of out-of-equilibrium spin chains and the development of DFT-inspired protocols for assessing thermodynamical quantities.
